LightWave Server

Introduction to the Password Policy feature

The Password Policy feature enables LightWave Server customers to enforce rigorous password quality standards.

How it Works

LightWave Server's Password Policy utilizes a background refresh mechanism to detect policy revisions automatically, maintaining system uptime by avoiding manual service restarts.

  • Where appropriate, the UI or the console checks against the policy to ensure password quality.

    • Some examples of password changes:

      • Adding a user to LightWave Server

      • Changing the administrator password.

  • The Password Policy is enforced for all new users or when setting a new password for an existing user.

  • The Password Policy defined by the customer is also enforced for non-console user IDs; i.e., those used for basic or digest request authentication.

  • The Password Policy configuration is set by a startup option.
