ActivCERT

Recover, back up, and restore

Recover a deployment target

  1. Inspect STATUS TARGET and recent deployment records.

  2. Inspect the related task, events, process log, and target-specific transcript.

  3. Quarantine a bad certificate version when it must not be selected again.

  4. Use ROLLBACK TARGET to restore the previous successful target version.

  5. Use DEPLOY TARGET to restore the active certificate version after the problem is corrected.

Back up the datastore

  1. Freeze the scheduler with a recorded reason, or stop CERTMON.

  2. Allow or stop active tasks according to the maintenance plan.

  3. Back up the complete datastore file set as a transactionally consistent unit.

  4. Protect backup media as sensitive certificate and credential data.

  5. Thaw the scheduler or restart CERTMON.

Restore or relocate the datastore

  1. Stop every process using the datastore.

  2. Restore the complete datastore file set to the selected Guardian volume and subvolume.

  3. Apply site-approved Guardian ownership and security attributes.

  4. Run VALIDATE DATASTORE <volume>.<subvol>, DETAIL.

  5. Start CERTMON with the restored location and verify monitor, scheduler, certificate, target, task, and event state.

The restored location may differ from the original location.

Delete a datastore

Stop all processes that use the datastore, then repeat the full location as confirmation:

DELETE DATASTORE $DATA.ACTCERT, CONFIRM $DATA.ACTCERT

Deletion. DELETE DATASTORE removes only recognized ActivCERT datastore files. Confirm the exact target before running it.
